Cable TV The Cable TV Committee consists of five members appointed by the Mayor for a one year term. All members shall reside within the Township of Old Bridge and serve without compensation. The Committee conducts meetings to determine the quality of cable television services provided to subscribers within the Township, and makes recommendations, as appropriate, relative to the nature and quality of cable television services. The Committee shall further review agreements between the Township and the cable franchise, both contractual and verbal, monitor compliance and report to the Mayor and Council. Cultural Arts Committee The Cultural Arts Committee is comprised of seven members whose purpose is to promote the five arts: theater, music, dance, cinema and visual arts, and to encourage participation and appreciation by all citizens of Old Bridge. Domestic Violence The Domestic Violence Crisis Team offers free conditional crisis intervention services, including immediate contact with victims, along with information and referral data, assisting services, and telephone numbers. Environmental Commission The Environmental Commission consists of seven members appointed by the Mayor for three year staggered terms. One shall be a member of the Planning Board. There will be two associate members who shall be students of the Township high school. Associate members will serve one-year terms and will be non-voting members. There will be two alternate members appointed. The Environmental Commission was established for the protection, development and use of natural resources, including water resources located within the territorial limits of the Township. Fair Rent Committee There are nine members appointed by the Mayor on January 1 of each year for a one-year term. This committee consists of three homeowners, three tenants, and three landlords owning apartment rental property within the Township of Old Bridge. Each homeowner shall reside within the Township. This committee determines the amount of a fair rental increase and recommends to Council the amount of percentage increases in rent for the twelve-month period commencing on June 1 of each year. The determination of the committee shall be advisory and not binding upon the Council. Historic Preservation This commission consists of nine members appointed by the Mayor for three year terms. Their purpose is to develop and implement the official local historic preservation plan for the Township, in addition to conducting local preservation activities with State and Federal agencies on matters affecting the Township's historic resources. Housing Authority The Housing Authority consists of seven members that are appointed to a five-year term. No more than two officials/Township employees may serve on the Housing Authority. Human Relations Commission The Commission consists of twelve members serving terms of three years. Nine of these Commissioners are appointed by the Mayor and three are appointed by the Council. There are two Associate members serving one-year terms. The Associate Members shall be students of the Township high school. The purpose of the Commission is to foster goodwill, cooperation and conciliation among the diverse population of the Township. It shall further aid in the elimination of all types of discrimination, to the end that bias acts will be non-existent within our borders. Library Board of Trustees This board oversees the operation of all public library facilities in the Township. It is responsible for setting policy to ensure that the Library serves the needs of the community, and for strategy planning so that the Library continues to meet those needs in the future. Open Space Committee The Committee consists of eleven members; two council members (1 year terms), four residents appointed by Council (three year terms), three residents appointed by the Mayor (three year terms), the Mayor, Township Planner, and one non-voting member from the Environmental Commission. This committee shall have as its overall purpose the improvement of the quality of life through fostering the preservation of open space within the Township for active and passive recreational purposes. Parking & Transportation Committee The Committee consists of nine members; seven of which shall be appointed by Council and two appointed by the Mayor, each for a three-year term. This committee conducts studies and prepares reports and recommendations for the Mayor concerning the establishment, maintaining and operating of various means of transportation within the township and surrounding area. They investigate transportation problems and serve as spokesmen before appropriate governmental agencies, and develop an overall transportation policy which will consider present and future transportation needs of the region; and cooperate with commuter, senior citizen and other groups to ensure their needs are fully and adequately integrated within the overall transportation policy. Recreation Advisory Board The Recreation Advisory Board consists of thirteen members, all appointed by Council for a one-year term. This board shall study, investigate, develop and organize programs in conjunction with the Director of Parks and Recreation. Rent Stabilization Board The Rent Stabilization Board consists of 11 members comprised of three homeowners, three tenants, two landlords, one alternate homeowner, one alternate tenant, and one alternate landlord. Members serve a three-year term. The Board takes care of problems (maintenance/rent increase) in various apartment complexes. It supplies information and assistance to landlords and tenants to help them comply with the Rent Stabilization Ordinance. The Board meets the second Tuesday of each month, where it can hold hearings and adjudicate applications. It has the power to reduce/increase rentals, award compensation and/or direct the landlord to make repairs. Youth Guidance Council This group consists of seven members, including one governing body, one police, one Board of Education, and four residents, each serving a term of three years. Appointments are made by the Mayor with the consent of Council. This group assists in coordinating and integrating community plans and services affecting the welfare of children and youth; assists in protecting children who are especially exposed to conditions conducive to delinquency; and assists in controlling harmful influences in the community. |
