| Minutes of the Environmental Commission January 10, 2007 Members Present:
Blanche Hoffman, Chair; Perry Simone,Vice Chair; Wayne Farmer; Deborah Marquez; Owen Henry; Chris Flynn-Rozanski, High School Representative Members Absent: Raquel Almeida-Khodash; George Millett; Gary Szelc; Guest: Mrs Ann Miller, president, Historical Commission; Liaison to the Old Bridge Environmental Commission Debbie DePew - Recycling Coordinator Steve Gilbar - Society Hill resident Welcome New and Existing Members Blanche Hoffman noted memo was sent to Mayor Phillips requesting Wayne Farmer serve as an alternate member, and appoint Debbie DePew as a voting member. 1 . Approval of December 6, 2006 Minutes Approval of minutes moved to February 7, 2007 meeting due to lack of a quorum. 2. Bills Outstanding No bills to date. 3. Drainage and Clean-up of Jughandles on Route 9 Debbie DePew reported she had sent a letter to Joe Criscuolo and Jim Cleary addressing the drainage problem and is waiting for their responses. Blanche Hoffman suggested Debbie send a letter to the Health Department and the Middlesex Mosquito Commission. 4. Global Progress Report In George Millett's absence, the Global Report will be moved to the February 7 meeting. 5. Open Space Item moved to February 7 meeting. 6. ERI Update Blanche Hoffman reported that Mayor Phillips is in agreement with the OBEC that the ERI be updated. To date, Blanche has had no response by any council members. The OBEC will enlist Jim Cleary, Sam Rizzo, Tom Badcock, Lisa Cooney, Ellen Ritchie, and Tom Sommers to work with the ERI subcommittee to establish a list of items that will be important to include in the update. Wayne Farmer and Blanche Hoffman agreed that the subcommittee should establish items and present to the Township staff by setting up a meeting for a Tuesday. 7. Global Landfill George Millett's report to be put on agenda for the January 10 OBEC meeting. 8. Greg Remaud - EPA Quality Award Blanche Hoffman reported the OBEC is submitting Greg Remaud for this reward. Blanche is waiting from Mr. Remaud his accomplishments for the submission, which needs to be done by February 14. 9. Planning and Zoning Galante Application - Residents Nancy Sterzel, Lucy Chencinski, and Peter Cantwell thanked the OBEC for lending their support to the Whispering Pines residents in their objections to the proposed building by Mr. Galante of townhouses and retail stores. As part of their efforts, only an office building will be constructed. Blanche Hoffman noted she would like to set up a meeting with Mr. Galante, as Blanche is a member of the Open Space Committee. 8:40 p.m. - Motion to adjourn the meeting made by Owen Henry, seconded by Perry Simone, all in favor.
