Minutes of the Environmental Commission April 2, 2003
Members Present:

1. Approval of March 5, 2003 Minutes
Motion to approve the minutes moved by Perry Simone, seconded by Wayne Farmer, all in favor.
2. Bills Outstanding
No bills to date.
3. OBEC Budget
Motion to approve the budget as presented moved by Perry Simone, seconded by Owen Henry, all in favor.
4. Open Space In Old Bridge-A Call For Action
Wayne Farmer thanked the members of the Open Space Task Force for all their work in putting together the Open Space Plan. The Open Space Plan was sent to the Township officials March 28th for their review, comments or suggestions, to be sent back to the OBEC by April 14, 2003.
5. Wetlands Hike in Cheesequake Park
Perry Simone reported he had taken the wetlands tour and presented the article published in the Home News Tribune.
Joseph Gurliaccio is putting together an environmental program to present to the High School administrators for their implementation of an Environmental Club in the High Schools. Joseph will have an update for the next OBEC meeting.
6. Earth Day-April 19, 2003
Blanche Hoffman reported she has T-shirts to be distributed, and Cindy Bell will coordinate plans with Mickey Gross and Jim Faczak about refreshments. Robert Sommers will see if seedlings can be made available.
7. National Volunteer Week
Blanche Hoffman handed out invitations to attend National Volunteer Week April 30, 2003.
8. Cellular Towers
Blanche Hoffman suggested applicant's first order of business should be to look at existing towers. Owen Henry stated that proof should be made as to there being a need for new towers.
9. ANJEC-Bike/Pedestrian Workshop
Blanche Hoffman presented information on the workshop and asked if anyone is interested in attending to contact Blanche.
10. Tree Planting Grant Funding
Blanche Hoffman reported that the Grant information was sent to Sam Rizzo.
11. Planning and Zoning
100-02Z Sodano Office Plaza The OBEC has no comments at this time.
99-02Z Waste Management
The OBEC will respond on the application, the Commission supports the use of berms along major arteries, as long as they are property maintained.
Blanche Hoffman will ask Andrew Snyder to keep the OBEC informed on any updates on water testing results as it relates to the Raritan spill.
