Minutes of the Environmental Commission
April 7, 2004

Jim Faczak - New Jersey Parks Interpretive Resources
Blanche Hoffman opened the meeting by introducing Jim Faczak. Mr. Faczak announced the Society for Conservation Biology will have a walk through Cheesequake State Park on August 3rd.
Mr. Fazcak met with Bill Kassning from Green Acres to discuss the upcoming closing on the Hauser property off Laurence Parkway, Cantor property on Dock Road and the Rose and Cohen properties.
It was suggested that the Environmental Commission reenforce to Mayor Phillips the importance of the Sommers property as it relates to vernal ponds and environmental eco-systems.
Mr. Fazcak outlined grants that are available, i.e., USDA-Farm Bill, WRP-Wetland Reserve Program.
1. Approval of March 3, 2004 Minutes
Motion to approve the minutes as presented moved by Perry Simone, seconded by Owen Henry, all in favor.
2. Bills Outstanding
No bills to date.
3. Earth Day
Blanche Hoffman reported Burger King will donate 100 hamburgers and the OBEC will purchase bottles of water.
4. Environmental Club
Joseph Gurliaccio will have a report for the next meeting.
5. Litter - Adopt-A-Road
Blanche Hoffman will write to Freeholder David Crabiel requesting the County to do a litter clean-up of Route 516 with Old Bridge helping in the clean-up.
The OBEC will look into an Adopt-A-Road program by contacting the County recycling department.
6. NJ Coastal Heritage Trail and Coastal Zone
Blanche Hoffman noted that the heritage trails should be incorporated in the development of the waterfront. Blanche discussed with Sam Rizzo to incorporate the trails and coastal zone in to the master plan.
Blanche Hoffman presented a memo from Sam Rizzo on a prepared draft from Mark Remsa regarding Master Plan - Conservation and Recreation Element. The OBEC will review for the May meeting.
7. Planning and Zoning
87-03P - People Mover Office Building
Memo will be sent with comments.
104-03P - Stavola Old Bridge Materials
In order for comments to be made the OBEC will request a traffic impact study for further review.
