Minutes of the Environmental Commission March 2, 2005

1. Approval of February 2, 2005 Minutes
Motion to approve the minutes as presented made by Wayne Farmer, seconded by Raquel Almeida-Khodash, all in favor, with George Millet abstaining.
2. Bills Outstanding
ANJEC Workshop - March 19, 2005
Motion to approve payment not to exceed $60.00 for attendees Raquel Almeida-Khodash and Deborah Marquez made by Wayne Farmer, seconded by George Millett, all in favor.
3. Old Bridge Waterfront Park Interpretive Signs
Perry Simone reported having discussion with Scott Barnes of the Audubon Society who will be meeting with Mayor Phillips scheduled for March 8, 2005. There will be a walk through the trails at the waterfront to discuss signage. Mrs. Miller of the Historical Commission met with the County as well. Perry will follow up for the April OBEC meeting.
4. Tree Ordinance
Perry Simone will follow up with the Township Council as to the status of the ordinance draft.
5. Earth Day
Perry Simone reported that the time schedule is to be 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., with a rain date of April 24 at the Interpretative Center at Cheesequake State Park. Perry will speak with Blanche Hoffman as it pertains to the OBEC sponsoring the event with water and possibly hamburgers. Further discussion tabled for the next OBEC meeting.
Owen Henry reported residents of Madison Park had received letters from Williams Gas informing them that a location for a compressor line is being considered to come from Manzo to the Morgan area. The OBEC will further investigate in getting a copy of this letter for further discussion.
6. Planning and Zoning
117-04P - Stanberry Acquisitions - Memo to be sent to the Planning Board - the environmentally sensitive parcels must be defined. The wetlands need to be protected and maintained from any development.
88-04Z - JB Ltd. - Memo to be sent to the Zoning Board - the plan provides a berm to visually block the building from the surrounding road. The present plan removes the berm and provides no visual buffering. More impervious surfaces are created by the new building, and the attempt to maintain the previously existing number of parking spaces. The OBEC recommends that the berm be re-established, or an equivalent buffer be provided.
