Minutes of the Environmental Commission June 1, 2005

1. Approval of May 4, 2005 Minutes
Motion to approve the minutes as presented made by Owen Henry, seconded by Blanche Hoffman, all in favor.
2. Bills Outstanding
No bills to date.
3. Sayreville High School Conservation Club
No report due to Deborah Marquez's absence.
4. Tree Ordinance
Blanche Hoffman reported ordinance was adopted May 9, 2005. Copies will be made available.
5. New Jersey Environmental Primer
Perry Simone made copies available to Township officials. Perry will also see that Zoning and Planning Board members have copies as well. The Primer has links to internet sites, as well as commonly used vocabulary as it relates to environment issues.
Blanche Hoffman will contact the DEP for additional copies to have to hand out during Old Bridge Day in October.
Blanche Hoffman met with Mayor Phillips regarding the Open Space Committee. Further discussion of goals and a mission statement are to be discussed by the Open Space Committee in July. Blanche asked for volunteers from the Environmental Commission who would be interested in participating on this Committee to contact her.
Perry Simone announced June 18 will be the dedication at Pirates Cove for the second phase of the waterfront development.
6. Planning and Zoning
114-04P - Woodhaven Plaza Memo to the Planning Board with the following comments: care and sensitivity should be taken during the construction phase to minimize the impact on wildlife; the Tree Ordinance should be enforced; additional buffering along Texas Road, ideally with berms.
54-04P - Maplewood Estates The OBEC has no comments at this time.
47-05P - JCN Construction Memo to Planning Board stating that the Zoning Board ordinances should be adhered to.
9:05 p.m. - Motion to adjourn the meeting made by Wayne Farmer, seconded by Perry Simone, all in favor.
