Minutes of the Environmental Commission March 1, 2006

1. Approval of February 1, 2006 Minutes
Motion to approve the minutes as presented made by Wayne Farmer, seconded by Owen Henry, with Perry Simone and Deborah Marquez abstaining, all in favor.
2. Bills Outstanding
No bills to date.
3. ANJEC Training to Protect National Resources
Motion to approve payment of $30.00 for registration of Wayne Farmer to attend March 4, 2006 session made by Perry Simone, seconded by Owen Henry, all in favor.
4. NJ Conservation Foundation Land Conservation Rally
No interest to participate.
5. Middlesex County Conservation Club
George Millett reported he has sent e-mails to Mr. Crabiel requesting any updates on the County Conservation Corp. Deborah Marquez has been trying to get information as it relates to what the criteria of the County Conservation Corp. will be. Perry Simone will try to contact Freeholder Crabiel's office to see that George Millett's inquiries are responded to by the County.
6. Meeting with Ellen Ritchie
Blanche Hoffman, Wayne Farmer, and Deborah Marquez met with Ms. Ritchie on February 7, 2006 to discuss open space inventory and a greenway linkage grant. Wayne Farmer reported Ms. Ritchie is supportive of the Environmental Commissions ideas, and further discussions will ensue.
George Millett reported the Engineering Department will have maps made, which will indicate available open space.
Wayne Farmer reported ANJEC has funding for Smart Growth and, therefore, ANJEC can possibly help on a greenway plan.
7. Nomination Region 2-2006 Environmental Quality Award
The Old Bridge Environmental Commission nominated Greg Remaud, Conservation Director of NY/NJ Baykeeper. The nomination package was mailed February 24, 2006.
8. Earth Day
To be held April 22 at Cheesequake Park Interpretative Center. The OBEC will be distributing pens, water and hamburgers. The ordering of T-shirts was discussed at the February 1 OBEC meeting and, in Blanche Hoffman's absence, this item will be put on the agenda for the April meeting.
9. General Development Plan - Memo to Mayor Phillips
To date, Blanche Hoffman has had no response from Mayor Philips in reference to memo sent February 3 regarding the GDP and 20 year approvals. The Environmental Commission will contact the Planning Board lawyer for any additional information.
10. Planning and Zoning
03-06Z - Martinelli No comments due to the late delivery of plans.
110-05Z -Kara Homes - Rite Aid Memo to be sent to Zoning Board with OBEC comments.
60-05P -Calvary Chapel Memo to be sent to Planning Board with OBEC comments.
