Minutes of the Environmental Commission April 5, 2006

1. Approval of March 1, 2006 Minutes
Perry Simone corrected the minutes to show Roland Gesimondo, Rutgers Student, did not attend meeting. Motion to approve the minutes as corrected made by Owen Henry, seconded by Wayne Farmer, all in favor.
2. Bills Outstanding
Motion to approve payment not to exceed $25.00 for the purchase of water for Earth day made by Perry Simone, seconded by Owen Henry, all in favor.
3. ANJEC Training to Protect National Resources
Wayne Farmer attended seminar March 4, 2006 and reported topics outlined were Environmental Commission powers and responsibilities, educate the public, and be an advisor to the Mayor and Planning Board. Other mission is to maintain a Natural Resource Inventory, which provides a fundamental basis of the towns Master Plan.
Wayne will prepare an outline to be used to set up a task force who will work on updating the current Township Natural Resource Inventory. This item will be put on the agenda for the May OBEC meeting for further discussion.
4. Earth Day
Blanche Hoffman ordered 75 T-shirts to be given out, as will as pens. Perry Simone, Wayne Farmer and Blanche Hoffman will be in attendance.
5. Middlesex County Conservation Club
Due to George Millett's absence, there was no report.
Perry Simone and Blanche Hoffman will arrange to meet with Mayor Phillips to address the litter problem in the township, and the status of the NJ Audubon interpretative signs in the Waterfront Park Phase III.
A primary reason for this meeting as well as to address that the OBEC currently lacks any office space for a desk, storage area, filing cabinets, bookcases, and a phone extension for messages left from the public.
Owen Henry reported that Old Bridge is to be the site for the Transco compressor station.
6. Information Only Item
This item is moved to the May meeting agenda.
Wayne Farmer reported he received an invitation from Greg Renaud - NY/NJ Baykeeper, to attend a Regional Open Space Forum. The Baykeepers sponsored the event for the stakeholders, with which they are associated, as it related to the Garden State Preservation Trust (Green Acres) that runs out in two years.
7. Planning and Zoning
125-04P - Old Bridge Manor Action to be taken postponed until May meeting of the Planning Board.
22-06P - Wm. Spade OBEC comments to be sent to the Planning Board.
8:45 p.m. - Motion to adjourn the meeting made by Wayne Farmer, seconded by Owen Henry, all in favor.
