ITEMS TO BE DISCUSSED

Denis commented that James Lamites has not been at any meetings this year and we don’t have contact information on him. Bill Baker said he will reach out to him and look into it.

Background checks: Tom mentioned that the Department has been looking into the possibility of doing background checks on all youth athletic league coaches, board members, referees, umpires, etc. It will be a major undertaking. Manalapan and Howell are already doing this. Information will be sent to the members so this can be discussed at the next meeting. There are some grants that will help cover the cost. Denis mentioned that the football leagues are already required to do this under the National Pop Warner Football League. Discussion followed.

RECREATION/CAMP ROBIN UPDATE

Recreation classes are up and running since March 6th. The dance recital was last Saturday. The Easter Event is taking place rain or shine on April 8th. Camp Robin Friday Night Program and Saturday programs are full. A cap on registration was needed because of a large influx of autistic children (they need one-on-one care) and our staff is now outnumbering the clients.

Tom mentioned that Beau Byrtus had been awarded Young Professional of the Year award from NJRPA last night at their awards dinner in Atlantic City.
