ATTENDANCE
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 pm.
In attendance were Lisa Cooney, Ray Battaglino, Isaac Crosson, Fran DiRocco, Steve Donohue, Kerry Frew, Jody Huss, Robert Larson, Irene O’Kane, Ash Patel, Bob Pepe. Also at the meeting were Al DiRocco and Tom Turner from the United Skate Shop.
Absent from this meeting were Tom Badcock, Joe Dunn, Denis Kilduff, Kevin Ruffler, Councilmen Bill Baker, Kevin Calogera and Richard Greene.
Tom Turner talked about the opening of his shop and how it has been well received. He and Theresa at the Library are working on getting a skating day at Veteran’s Park to educate the kids about skateboarding.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the January meeting were approved.
ITEMS TO BE DISCUSSED
Paul Lavelle was scheduled to be at this meeting to give a presentation on a workshop he’s prepared for parents who have children involved in youth sports, but this will be presented at the next meeting due to the absence of some of our members tonight.
RECREATION/CAMP ROBIN UPDATE
The Camp Robin Report was in everyone’s folders. Lisa mentions work has begun on the Summer Brochure. Also discussed were the plans for the dog park and also classes for pet obedience day. Lisa mentioned plans for the dog park has been suspended due to the high cost of bringing water to the site and road development costs. Lisa talked about the Department’s Pooch Parade and that there is a dog obedience presentation that takes place during the event.
CAPITAL PROJECTS
1. Golf Course – RFP’s are planned to go out in March
2. Irrigation projects at Ticetown and Pension – specs are done and bids are going out in March
3. Tennis Court resurfacing – no bonding yet, have some specs
4. Arena Roof – work should begin in June
5. Sayrewood South – paving should be done before opening day by Public Works
6. Senior buses – out to bid again
7. Central Park – playground being redone
8. Geick emergency access roads – almost completed
OLD BUSINESS
Parking lot status for soccer fields was discussed for Higgins Rd. Soccer. Steve mentioned the Mayor promised this would be done for this season’s start. Also discussed was handicap access to restrooms.
