Pat Saporito and Joe Dwyer discussed incorporating an enclosed ice rink into the YMCA plans. Tom Badcock handed out some research that was done by Wayne Anderson, Arena Manager on the in-house programs. Tom mentioned that he does not recommend enclosing the present Arena, however, there is land across from the YMCA site that has potential for an enclosed Arena which is on County land. Perhaps the County would be interested in financing an indoor Arena. It is suggested that John Piccolo and Wayne Anderson attend the next meeting to answer questions.

Civic Center Basement usage is discussed. Lisa mentioned it is used for various Recreation classes and for the Teen Center.

Bob Pepe inquires about the Challenger Baseball program.

CAPITAL PROJECTS

1. YMCA: Received $3 million commitment from the County. This area was declared a redevelopment zone; once it goes through council then a contract can be worked out. It is estimated that this facility will cost $8 million.

2. Golf Course: Township will be continuing to look for a partner with a public/private partnership through a golf course development company.

3. Laurence Harbor: Landscaping work is being planned. Will cost approx. $13,500

4. Ticetown Road Soccer Fields: New irrigation system will be put in, costing approximately $75,000, being paid for by bond money. Gerard wanted the committee to be aware that the league has funds in their account. Tom mentioned the league’s money will be used for other capital projects at the fields, for example, lighting would be a good upgrade using the league’s funds.

5. Central Park: Fibar surfacing will be ordered using bond money

6. Arena Zamboni machine will cost approx. $65,000

7. Pension Road: Planning irrigation and drainage using CDBG funds

OLD BUSINESS
