RECREATION/CAMP ROBIN UPDATE
Lisa gave the update about the summer camp program registration and mentions that camp starts on Monday. Discussion followed about the special considerations this year with the school’s construction and how it impacted the camp. Camp Robin’s report is in everyone’s folders.
CAPITAL PROJECTS
Tom explained that the council unanimously accepted Mannino Park as the YMCA site and accepted the Mannino Park Master Plan. September 23rd will be the kick-off for the YMCA.
It was mentioned that the traffic light at Owens Rd. should be done in time for the opening of the YMCA. Also, secondary access road is being looked at off of Jake Brown Road. Fran requested an area map of this park be distributed to committee members at next meeting.
Laurence Harbor renovation should be completed by the end of the summer.
Vets Park’s air conditioner was installed in the building in time for camp. Also, new swings were added.
OLD BUSINESS
A copy of the Draft Ordinance on the Athletic Code of Conduct that Kevin Calogera worked on is in everyone’s folder and is discussed among members. It is on the agenda for the council meeting of July 14 for first reading; if there aren’t any problems it will go for second reading at the July 28th meeting. It was felt that if the first reading went along as planned, a meeting would be called and include all the president’s of the Township leagues to discuss the Athletic Code of Conduct. It was decided that signs should be posted at all fields after the ordinance is passed to inform everyone about the new law. Newspaper articles could also get the word out.
Gerard mentions that leagues not complying with the new ordinance would forfeit funding and insurance provided by the township.
NEW BUSINESS
Due to the YMCA kick-off meeting, it was decided that the next meeting would be held on September 17th. |
