RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD
MINUTES OF NOVEMBER 19, 2003
This meeting was called to order at 7:43 pm.
In attendance were: Tom Badcock, Lisa Cooney, Ray Battaglino, Joe DeSimone, Fran DiRocco, Joe Dunn, Kerry Frew, Gerard Haran, and Denis Kilduff. Councilmen Baker, Calogera and Greene were in Atlantic City at the League of Municipalities meeting. Al DiRocco was present. Mayor Cannon attended the meeting from 8:10 pm – 8:30 pm.
Carol Norberg was present to take the minutes.
Absent from this meeting were: Richard Bezeg, Nancy Calogera, Bob Pepe, Janet Phillips, Kevin Ruffler, and Tom Stead. All League Presidents/and or representatives were at this meeting to discuss the Athletic Code of Conduct with the exception of the Cricket League. Approval of Minutes
The minutes were approved from the October meeting.
Items to Be Discussed
The Athletic Code of Conduct was discussed with all the league presidents. The St. Barnabas VCR tape was shown. It was decided that the Athletic Code of Conduct will be posted on the Township website and on the cable channel.
A discussion took place about signage at each league regarding the Code of Conduct. It was decided that the Township will provide one sign to each league, high school and at Vets and Geick Park.
Mayor Cannon thanked the Recreation Advisory Board for their hard work on bringing the Athletic Code of Conduct to the town.
Also, grant allocation packages were handed out to the leagues.
This part of the meeting ended at 8:45 PM. All the leagues exited at this time.
Recreation/Camp Robin Update
Lisa thanked everyone who came and helped out for the Halloween Event. Letters for Santa are being collected. The Holiday Township Party will be Dec. 13th. Commerce Bank donated $2,000 for this event. The Tree/Menorah lighting will be on December 22nd. Recreation Dept. and Youth Guidance will partner up to bring Ice Disco at the Arena on January 18th. Warm cloths will be collected at this event for the troops, (scarfs, hats, and gloves). Cultural Arts will be having a classic TV night on February 21st. The cost is $35 per person, $65 couple. Angel Tree gifts will be picked up by families on December 6th.

Old Business
Tom informed the committee that Cheesequake Baseball would need to go through the State for DOT approval to make traffic safety changes on the road that is by their fields. (e.g..: flashing light).
Signatures are being obtained on a petition for a skate park in Cliffwood Beach
New Business
A discussion followed about the attendance for the Recreation Advisory Board members. It was suggested that Gerard do a letter to the township council members about reviewing the attendance of the members that they appointed, and have them contact the members who missed three consecutive meetings to find out their intentions. Tom stated he would draft a letter for Gerard’s signature.
Denis Kilduf mentioned that Central Jersey Pop Warner is considering disbanding one of the leagues in town due to fielding problems and then consolidating the three football leagues into one. If this does go forward, Denis is asking that a subcommittee from this Advisory Board be formed to help make this a smooth transition for all the leagues involved.
