Youth Police Academy Program The Youth Police Academy program is for youngsters between the ages of 10 to 17 years of age. The program provides an awareness of the law enforcement field and includes classes in physical fitness training, crime scene investigation, substance abuse and police canines. The instruction provided is similar to police academy training. This year's sessions will be held July 14 - 18 and August 18 - 22. Click here for information and application. D.A.R.E. The goal of the D.A.R.E. program is to significantly reduce/eliminate the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and the use of violent behavior among young people. Through D.A.R.E., students are taught to understand the physical, emotional and social effects of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and inhalants on their developing brains and bodies, as well as the legal ramifications. Students are also taught to apply refusal strategies and resistance skills in a variety of life-like situations.
Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) The Community Emergency Response Team program helps train individuals to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations within their communities. Citizens Police Academy Township residents are invited to particpate in this non-credited program where topics such as motor vehicle law, criminal law (arrest, search & seizure), narcotics familiarization, domestic violence and various other topics are discussed.
