The Old Bridge Public Library is seeking a Coordinator of Strategy and Communication

Position Description: Coordinator of Strategy and Communication

Salary: $84,255

Reports to: Library Director

General Statement of Duties: Analyzes library performance and community qualitative/quantitative data in support of strategic collection, service and program development. Manages library internal and external communications including library intranet, community messaging, annual report and newsletters.

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

· Supervises, coordinates and analyzes Youth, Adult and Branch services outreach and programming. Coordinates high level events with community calendar.

· Collects and analyzes data from Collection/Acquisitions Supervisor, Manager of Circulation, Adult and Youth Services to identify trends and needs for the Director and Trustees.

· Collaborates with state and regional counterparts to maximize Old Bridge library’s investment.

· Manages the library’s grant initiatives, guiding staff in opportunities, applications and administration.

· Develops high level messaging with community, staff and Trustees to promote library strategies and services including Library Value Calculator annual infographics.

· Collaborates with Department Managers to create and coordinate change management communication, content and schedules.

· Coordinates communications consultants in developing marketing strategy.

· Supports staff in creating promotional content and opportunities.

· Collaborates with the Director in evaluating communication, outreach and programming activities for Managers.

· Contributes data and high-level insight to the development of the strategic plan.

· Participates in interviews and assists in making recommendations to the Director on hiring and other personnel issues.

· Develops long and short-term goals related to services and resources for the department.

· Works evenings, days and weekends for the number of hours as defined in the current contract and serves as Person In Charge when assigned.

· May serve as Notary Public.

· Personally takes part in and encourages staff to participate in professional development opportunities.

· Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.

· Maintains an appropriate professional appearance in dress and manner at all times.

· Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

· Master's Degree in Library Science (or equivalent) from an ALA accredited program.

· NJ Professional Librarian’s certificate issued by Thomas Edison State University.

· At least five of post MLS library experience including supervision.

· Demonstrated experience in the following areas: flexibility, initiative, teamwork and customer service.

· Ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly, courteously and effectively with library patrons and staff in the English language.

· Proficiency in the use of current technologies.

· Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to move between libraries and other locations.

This Full-Time position is for 70 hours bi-weekly and includes daytime, evening and weekend hours. Annual salary is $84,255 per collecting bargaining unit and includes an excellent benefits package. Employees in this category are represented by AFSCME and contribute to the pension system.
