Position Description: Branch Services Manager

Reports to: Library Director

Status: EXEMPT

General Statement of Duties: Performs supervisory and administrative work directing the daily functions of branch libraries and all library services outside of the main branch.

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

• Works with community partners, Trustees and staff to determine and develop facility and service opportunities in greater Old Bridge area (branches, book drops, satellite locations, etc.).

• Manages the facility, staff, collection, Reference Services, programming and budget for the Laurence Harbor Branch.

• Coordinates branch services with central library initiatives, events and messaging.

• Supervises department staff, including scheduling, training, mentoring, and assigning tasks to department

personnel.

• Maintains staff morale, and reviews workflow and procedures to ensure maximum quality and efficiency.

• Participates in interviews and assists in making recommendations to the Director on hiring and other personnel issues.

• Observes department staff on a daily basis. Provides staff with periodic verbal and written evaluations (at

least one written evaluation annually).

• Develops long and short-term goals related to services and resources for the department.

• Submits monthly and annual reports on the progress of objectives, programs, statistics, and trends in the

department.

• Prepares and justifies a department annual budget for strategic planning objectives for the Library.

• Participates in applying for and administrating grants.

• Cooperates with schools, businesses and relevant community organizations for outreach services.

• Works evenings, days and weekends for the number of hours as defined in the current contract and serves as Person In Charge when assigned.

Qualifications

· MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited library school.

· Must have or be eligible to obtain a New Jersey Professional Librarian Certificate.

· Strong communication skills. Additional language fluency desirable.

· Proficiency in the use of current library technologies.

· Possession of a valid driver’s license.
