Library Assistant - Collections and AcquisitionsPart-time: $19.91/hr.
Reports To: Managing Librarian - Collections and Acquisitions
General Statement of Duties: Assists in the processing and cataloging of Library materials.
Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
Assists in implementing the goals and objectives of the Collection and
Acquisitions Department and the Old Bridge Public library.
Maintains an appropriate professional appearance in dress and manner at all
times.
Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.
Opens and sorts arriving library materials.
Checks in, sorts, prepares and shelves periodical publications.
Processes new materials and repairs damaged materials for use by the public.
May shelve library materials and keep shelves in order.
Handles routine acquisition problems.
Works with other staff members to assist with collection development tasks.
Participates in continuing education workshops and other activities for the staff.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Must be organized, detail-oriented, work accurately and work with minimal
supervision.
Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
English language fluency in written and spoken form.
Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
Some knowledge of office procedures, computers and MS Office.
Must be able to lift, carry and bend.
