The Old Bridge Public Library is seeking a Library Assistant - Collections and Acquisitions

Library Assistant - Collections and AcquisitionsPart-time: $19.91/hr.

Reports To: Managing Librarian - Collections and Acquisitions

General Statement of Duties: Assists in the processing and cataloging of Library materials.

Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists in implementing the goals and objectives of the Collection and

    Acquisitions Department and the Old Bridge Public library.

  • Maintains an appropriate professional appearance in dress and manner at all

    times.

  • Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.

  • Opens and sorts arriving library materials.

  • Checks in, sorts, prepares and shelves periodical publications.

  • Processes new materials and repairs damaged materials for use by the public.

  • May shelve library materials and keep shelves in order.

  • Handles routine acquisition problems.

  • Works with other staff members to assist with collection development tasks.

  • Participates in continuing education workshops and other activities for the staff.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, work accurately and work with minimal

    supervision.

  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills.

  • English language fluency in written and spoken form.

  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions.

  • Some knowledge of office procedures, computers and MS Office.

  • Must be able to lift, carry and bend.
