Daniel Gavrikov, a member of Boy Scout Troop 219 in Old Bridge, has completed a new shopping cart corral for the Food Bank as part of his Eagle Scout project.
Daniel, who has volunteered at the Food Bank over the past year, proposed the project in October 2025 and submitted detailed construction plans. After receiving approval, he organized fundraisers to secure the necessary funds.
Construction began on Sunday, June 28, 2026, and the corral was finished in three days with help from Daniel’s family and troop members. On Monday, July 20, 2026, Daniel, in the presence of his parents, brother and fellow troop members, formally presented the completed project to Mayor Debbie Walker, Business Administrator, Anahita Feltz, and Parks Recreation & Social Services Director, Matt Mercurio, outside the Food Bank. Mayor Walker commended Daniel for his initiative and the project’s positive impact on the community. Daniel thanked his family, troop leaders, and supporters, encouraging other Scouts to find ways to serve their community.
