Child Health Programs
The Middlesex County Collaborative Preschool Immunization Program offers free preschool and school and school-age immunizations at the Middlesex County Board of Social Services office in New Brunswick from 8:30 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call (732) 745-4626 for more information. Comprehensive well child services are available for families with no health insurance who meet the income criteria. Retail Food and Beverage License
Any fixed or mobile establishment that serves, stores, handles or provides food or drink to the public, with or without charge, is required to obtain a Retail Food and Beverage License. The license is renewable every year. Fees vary depending upon the seating capacity and square footage of the establishment. Contact this office for a copy of the fees.
The Middlesex County Public Health Department inspectors are available to field complaints and routinely inspect food establishments.
Some medical services for adults and children are provided by the Middlesex County Public Health Department. Please contact them directly at 732-745-3100 for information and appointments.
Public Bathing License
All public bathing facilities must be licensed by the Health Department annually. Seasonal licenses are $100 for pools and $50 for spas or wading pools. Seasonal permits shall be issued no earlier than May 15 and shall expire no later than September 15. Year round or annual pool licenses are $200 and $100 for spas or wading pools. Old Bridge contracts with the Middlesex County Public Health Department to provide comprehensive public health services. Their mission is to promote and protect good health and prevent disease, improve access to health services, and provide health services with efficiency to improve the health of all Middlesex County residents. The Inspection Division of the MCPHD performs various types of inspections throughout the year. It is the goal of the Inspection division that every food establishment, public swimming pool, and body art facility be inspected twice a year. The fee for review of each application to construct or alter an individual subsurface sewage disposal system is two hundred dollars ($200), which includes witnessing soil logs and percolation tests, review of engineer plans and inspection during construction. The fee shall be payable upon the filing of the application (Old Bridge Ordinance 19-6.9). Checks are to be made out to Old Bridge Health Department. Acceptance of this fee in no way grants approval for construction or alterations. The applicant agrees to conform to the provisions of the State of New Jersey regulations. Plans must be submitted and any questions directed to the Middlesex County Public Health Department, Environmental Division, 711 Jersey Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901. The fee for review of each application to locate and construct a water system is one hundred fifty dollars ($150) as per Old Bridge Ordinance 19-11.9. Checks are to be made out to Old Bridge Health Department. Acceptance of this fee in no way grants approval for locating or constructing a water system. The applicant agrees to conform to the provisions of the State of New Jersey regulations known as “Standards for Construction of Public Non-Community and Non-Public Water Systems” (NJ Administration Code 7:10-12.1 through 7:10-12.43 inclusive).
