Old Bridge Police Department Achieves Accreditation Status for the Fourth Time

On behalf of the Old Bridge Township Police Department, Acting Chief Donald F. Fritz, Jr. would like to announce that the department has succeeded in attaining re-accreditation status for the third (3rd) time since its initial accreditation in 2014. The department received official approval of the re-accreditation by unanimous vote of the New Jersey State Association of the Chiefs of Police at a hearing held in South Brunswick on Thursday, June 8, 2023.

The re-accreditation efforts were led by Sgt. Herbert Doctors, the department’s Accreditation Manager since 2018. Although the accreditation process was led by Sgt. Doctors, the entire department, both sworn and civilian employees, was responsible for their participation in the agency achieving re-accreditation status. The dedication and professionalism of all employees, as well as their implementation and belief in the policies and procedures adopted, assisted in the department receiving this high honor.

The accreditation process is conducted every three (3) years. It is an extensive and exhausting process, but the end result is for the betterment of the department, the Township and ultimately the community as a whole. Accreditation indicates to the community that the Police Department has implemented policies and procedures that are conceptually sound and operationally effective while maintaining professionalism and commitment to the public safety of our community.

“I cannot be prouder of the department and congratulate them on a job well done and look forward to continuing to provide exceptional and professional service to the residents of our community”, Acting Chief Fritz stated.
